The Bloody May | Bloody Mary Recipe | Gin by James May

THE BLOODY MAY

DIFFICULTY

Advanced

WHAT'S IN IT

60 ml American Mustard Gin
120 ml tomato juice
15 ml pickle brine
15 ml lemon juice
1 cucumber slice (muddled)
4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
A dash of Sriracha (to taste)
Pinch of black pepper + celery salt

HOW IT'S MADE
  • Muddle the cucumber slice in a shaker tin.
  • Add gin, tomato juice, pickle brine, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Sriracha, black pepper, and celery salt.
  • Add ice and roll the mix gently between two tins to chill and combine (do not hard shake).
  • Strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice.
WHAT IT'S LIKE

We took a Bloody Mary, and added some cucumber to compliment the mustard and brighten up the pickle flavour. A light-hearted take on the classic.

JAMES' TASTING NOTES

Mary 1 of England had to persecute Protestants before getting a drink named after her. James May, on the other hand, just needed to make The Gin of the People.
